Property owners have an extra day this year to get their first half property tax payments in to the Marshall County Treasurer's Office as the deadline is Monday.
"Typically, the deadline is last day of the month, but since it fell on a Sunday it was extended to October 1," said Marshall County Treasurer Jarret Heil.
There are several ways to pay for those who have procrastinated on their bill. Payments can be dropped off at the Treasurer's Office at the Marshall County Courthouse until 4:30 p.m. Monday or paid online until midnight that day. There is also a drop box on the south side of the courthouse or payments can be mailed and postmarked by Monday.
Heil said the tax payments have been coming in pretty steady lately.
"That last week is when it really started rolling in," Heil said. "We anticipate Monday will be busy."
Penalty for late payment is 1.5 percent of the total tax bill each month, Heil said.
