Leona Klepinger of Marshalltown is shown in her apartment recently with two prized possessions — one is an African Violet plant estimated to be 100-years old. The plant was given to Klepinger by her late mother 40 years ago. Rick Gooding, owner of Lowe’s Flowers, said he had never heard of an African Violet plant that old. Klepinger said the plant blooms frequently. The second is the flower pot containing the plant, which originally belonged to Klepinger’s grandmother and is estimated to be 90-years old.
