TAMA - Robert F. Jacobsen Jr., 88, of Grinnell, formerly of Tama, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Bob was born on August 15, 1924, in Gilman, Iowa, the son of Robert F. and Amanda W. (Reimers) Jacobsen Sr.

After graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

On November 27, 1948, he married Norma Jeanne Blythe at St. Patrick's Rectory in Tama. In 1984, Evelyn Navara came into his life and was his companion until his passing.

Bob was employed by Fisher in Marshalltown for thirty years, retiring in 1983. He also farmed. Bob was a lifelong Tama resident. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, UAW Local 893, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion. Bob liked fishing, pheasant hunting and fixing things. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed being with people. He enjoyed wintering in Texas and spending summers in Canada. Later in life, he bought a plane and enjoyed flying into his 80's.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Norma Jeanne on May 31, 1983; sisters-in-law, Lois Jacobsen, and EvaLea Jacobsen.

Survivors include his companion of twenty-eight years, Evelyn Navara of Grinnell; three daughters, Bert (Larry) Webber of Tama, Becky (Carroll) Strahl of Randall, MN, and Vicki (Jack) DeAngelo of Grinnell; four grandchildren, Sarah Strahl, Devon DeAngelo, Andy DeAngelo, and Stefanie DeAngelo; two brothers, Dick (Mignonne) Jacobsen of AZ, and Ron Jacobsen of Sheldahl, IA; two nieces; and one nephew.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
