Tiger volleyball takes out Ellsworth in five

IOWA FALLS - Katelyn Yauslin threw her coming-out party at just the right time.

The Marshalltown Community College freshman finished with?a whopping 26 kills in helping the Tigers take down Ellsworth CC in Wednesday's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference clash, 26-24, 25-14, 16-25, 20-25, 18-16.

Marshalltown (8-16, 2-2) improved to 2-3 in five-set matches after jumping out to a 2-0 lead before Ellsworth (16-15, 2-3) worked its way back to force the deciding game.

"This is the most excited I've been for them all season," said MCC head coach Chris Brees. "This is the team that you hope shows up all season. Just proud of them."

Mady Van Metre added 16 kills while setter Tanya Literski totaled 43 assists in the Tigers' second straight win.

Ashley Salgado charted 23 digs while Alyssa Whitmore made 14 digs and led the team with four service aces.

MCC dives back into action this weekend at the DMACC Tournament in Boone, playing twice Friday and twice more Saturday.
