STORY CITY - Class 2A No. 3-ranked West Marshall locked up its 22nd consecutive district win and a third straight district title by taking down Roland-Story (1-7, 0-4).

The Trojans (8-0, 4-0) continued their unbeaten season and claimed the 2A District 7 title by winning 28-6.

Duncan Ferch ran the ball just eight times but piled up 120 yards, sparked by a 62-yard touchdown scamper to break open the scoring in the first quarter.

The Trojans blocked Roland-Story's extra point after Josiah Soderstrum scored on a 1-yard TD run, and West Marshall scored 21 unanswered points to put the win away.

Devin Chesler had touchdown runs of 1 and 22 yards on his way to 75 rushing yards on 16 attempts, while Elijah Streeter gained 90 yards on 18 carries. The Trojans capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with Jake Pszanka's 3-yard touchdown pass to Jared Riemenschneider.

Pszanka finished 5-for-10 for 85 yards, while Chesler led with 44 receiving yards. Bailey Brockman anchored the defense with 11 tackles and Colby Dunn added eight.

West Marshall closes out the regular season with a Week 9 home game against Gilbert (4-3, 2-2), which on Friday night knocked off No. 8-ranked Bondurant-Farrar in non-district action.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck 31, Belle Plaine 21

GLADBROOK - Chase Clark rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns, quarterback Trevor Trunck added two more TDs on the ground, and the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels handed Belle Plaine its first loss in Class A District 4 play, 31-21, Friday night at 'The Pit.'

Clark had scoring runs of 24 and 21 yards, Trunck punched it in from 1 and 6 yards, and the Rebels (4-4, 3-2) regained third place in the district by outscoring the Plainsmen (6-2, 4-1) 17-6 in the second half.

Trunck's final touchdown run gave G-R a 29-15 lead with 8:05 to play, and the Rebel defense got a safety with 2:40 to go to make it 31-15. Belle Plaine found paydirt once more but it wasn't enough.

Belle Plaine's Nick Pippert rushed for 178 yards and a touchdown. Lance Hinschberger added 90 yards as the Plainsmen rumbled for 303 yards on the ground.

Trunck finished 6-for-13 passing for 140 yards with one interception, connecting three times with Colton Dinsdale for 74 yards.

G-R closes the regular season next Friday against GMG in Garwin.

South Tama 49, Benton Community 13

VAN HORNE - Kyle Stephenson rushed for four touchdowns and the South Tama defense tacked on two of its own as the eighth-ranked Trojans improved to 7-1 with a 49-13 non-district rout of the Bobcats (1-7) on Friday night.

Kaleb Davenport returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown and Vinny Lasley picked up a fumble and took it back 57 yards for a score to send South Tama into next week's showdown with Grinnell.
