Oct. 27 marks the 58th annual Kiwanis Pancake Day. Since 1954 the Kiwanis clubs of Marshalltown have used this event as a fundraiser to give back to the community's youth. The quarter of a million dollars raised has helped fund school field trips, class trips and summer camp for many of our youth. Kiwanis has helped fund Boy Scout Eagle projects, flowers have been planted at Riverview Park, and we continue to maintain the shelter house at the Kiwanis park on Third Avenue. Kiwanis sponsors a Little League team, has purchased playground equipment for West End Park and contributes to the After Prom activities. Shoes and coats have been provided to kids in the lower elementary so they could participate in winter recess. The list goes on and on.
Help us continue to meet these needs by purchasing a Pancake Day ticket or become a member of one of the local Kiwanis Clubs and participate in changing the world one child at a time. Purchase tickets now for $5 from a Kiwanis member, Hy-Vee and The Hy-Vee Drug Store. Tickets will also be available at the door on the Oct. 27 for $6.
