Dorothy Mae Robeson, affectionately known as "Dot," passed away peacefully at their residence at Bella Vista Senior Living, 1825 West Emelita Avenue, #503, Mesa, Ariz., 85202, on Friday, Oct. 19, with husband, Warren, at her side. She was 88.

Dot was born to Ray and Anna Martin in Tama, Ia., on June 23, 1924. She grew up in Tama, where she started dating Warren when she was 14 and he was 15. They never parted and celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Dot and Warren spent the early part of their married life in Pacific Grove, Calif., during World War II. They moved back to Marshalltown, Ia., after the war and made their lives there from 1945 to 1991. While raising five children, Dot also worked in retail sales, where her ready smile and outgoing personality served her well. Her last career move brought her to real estate, where she was a successful realtor for many years.

Dot was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she held various offices. She never met an arts and crafts project she didn't like, creating many macrame, decoupage, and leatherwork gifts for her family. She was also a great cook and always shared her delicious baked goods with friends and neighbors. Dot and Warren travelled as much as they could, with Estes Park, Colo., being a favorite family vacation spot. They also made trips to Florida, Hawaii, California, the Grand Canyon and many other great destinations in the U.S.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date in Mesa, Ariz., near where Dot and Warren have spent the past 20 years. A memorial fund is being established for a scholarship in her name. Contributions payable to Dorothy Robeson Memorial Scholarship Fund may be sent to Sheryl Robeson Parrish, 3986 Durango Drive, Pensacola, Fla., 32504.
