MELCHER-DALLAS - Colo-NESCO suffered a 16-point defeat at the hands of Melcher-Dallas in the Royals' first-ever 8-man football game.
In the Royals' first 8-man playoff game, they got the revenge they've been waiting for.
Brandyn Niemeyer rushed for 302 yards and six touchdowns as Colo-NESCO knocked off the Saints, 58-42, in Wednesday's first round of playoff action.
The two teams went into the halftime tied at 28-all, but Colo-NESCO (7-3) scored four of the next five touchdowns to pull away for good on the Saints (7-2).
Niemeyer finished with touchdown runs of 47, 20, 8, 32, 2 and 40 yards, carrying the Royals to the school's first-ever playoff victory.
Colo-NESCO had been shut out in four previous playoff appearances dating back to 1989.
Adam Lytle added 61 yards rushing and two 1-yard touchdown dives in a third quarter in which the Royals outscored their hosts 14-0.
Melcher-Dallas dipped to 1-10 all-time in playoff games.
Niemeyer led the Royal defense with 17 tackles and Lytle had 15 more, while Taylor pulled down a pair of interceptions and Blake Bryan had another.
Colo-NESCO will get another chance to avenge a regular season loss with Monday's second-round game at second-ranked Murray (10-0). The Mustangs racked up an 87-44 victory over the Royals in their Week 7 showdown.
