The 30-person field for the Iowa Girls' State Diving Championships has been set, and the list includes defending champion Maggie James of Ames.

James qualified with a regional-winning score of 479.15 - the best 11-dive score in the state this year - and sits atop the list of those to advance out of Thursday's six regional diving meets. She is one of 15 returners from last year's field.

Other regional champions to automatically qualify for the Nov. 2 state diving finals were Jacintha Thomas of Iowa City West, Ashlyn Clingman of West Des Moines Valley, Hannah Brummel of Cedar Falls, and Davenport North's Hannah Guy.

None of the five qualifiers out of the Johnston regional were from Marshalltown.

The Bobcats were denied a state diving entrant for the second year in a row after having at least one diver qualify for six straight seasons.
