Iowa’s abortion laws too relaxed

October 30, 2012

Iowa laws do have some restrictions to abortions, but these can be easily overcome. The following is a summary of the existing Iowa and local laws:

a. Minors can have abortions without parental notification by getting a judge's waiver.

b. There is no waiting period or counseling required to have an abortion after the initial medical examination.

c. A doctor can interpret if an abortion is necessary for a woman's health.

d. Partial birth abortions are legal.

e. Webcam abortions are legal.

f. Marshalltown has no restriction on distance from schools, churches, or places where youth would frequent for an abortion provider.

The pro-life for the unborn candidates are Jane Jech, Allen Burt, Ben Lange and Romney/Ryan.
