WEST BURLINGTON - Troidell Carter had 21 points to lead the Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team to a season-opening win over Iowa Central on Friday night.
Rahiem Holloway and Matej Delinac each had 12 points as the the Tigers led by one at halftime and won 65-61 in action at the Southeastern Classic.
"We made a few defensive stops later in the first half and got on a nice little run," MCC coach Brynjar Brynjarsson said. "We stepped up our defense in the last 10 minutes of that half and came out in the second half and played with some purpose. We also managed to knock down some big shots that gave us some momentum."
David Anderson and Jesse James led the Tritons with 16 and 12 points, respectively.
The Tigers next play against the Culver-Stockton JV at 1 p.m. Saturday.
