Melanie DuToit, 57

November 7, 2012
Times-Republican

Melanie went home to be with the Lord Nov. 1, 2012. Born in Columbus, Ohio, later moving to Sarasota, Fla., she met Steve DuToit 25 and half years ago, they celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary on Oct. 21. Melanie worked as a dental hygienist in the early 80's; she then felt called to return to college, participating in the Ringling School of art Botanical Art Program winning awards for her work. Melanie returned to school again, achieving her master's degree in counseling. This was a perfect combination for her sweet and gentle spirit, as she loved helping people. Melanie used her gifts to work at Charis Center as a counselor for 14 years, continuing to pursue her passion for art. Her art will continue to be enjoyed, as well as memories of her special laugh, smile and sweet spirit remembered by family and friends blessed to know her.

Melanie leaves her loving family: her husband Steve; son Eric (Kristina) and their daughters: Eden, Amaris, Milana and Ivy; daughter Holly (Chad) Stoneking and son Brandon; special mother-in-law Fran; siblings: Margie, David, Dan and Tim Deckard. She also leaves many friends from four church families: First Baptist Church, Liberty Baptist Church, South Shore Community Church and Church of Hope. Her journey of Faith in Jesus Christ blossomed.

A Celebration of Melanie's life will be Thursday Nov. 8, 2012, 1:30 p.m. at Church of Hope, 1580 Wendell Kent Road, Sarasota, Fla., 34240. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to "Church of Hope" for the benefit of Heart-2-Heart Women's Ministry.
