On the freezing morning of our ninth day without electricity we were visited by a man who said, "You can turn on your lights now." What a wonderful surprise! The man's name was Pat, and said he was from Marshalltown, Iowa.
In our wooded, rocky neighborhood 35 miles north of New York, we are accustomed to tree falls that close roads and damage power lines, but this was a power outage of new dimensions. It would surely have lasted longer without the remarkable efforts of Pat and his colleagues. We salute them all!
