David and Angela Seals, of Marshalltown, are the parents of a son, Richard Joseph born at 10:05 p.m. Nov. 6 at Mary Greeley Medical Center weighing 6 pounds 14 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. Grandparents are Jerry and Susan Seals, of Marshalltown, and Boyd and Gala DeJong, of Montezuma.

Mike and Ashley Schneider, of Portsmouth, are the parents of a daughter, Makenzie Marie Schneider, born at 5 p.m. Nov. 6 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan weighing 8 pounds and measuring 20 3/4 inches long. Makenzie joins big brother, Colton, 3. Grandparents are Bryan and Judy Brown, of Marshalltown; and Ken and Kim Schneider, of Portsmouth. Great-grandparents are Keith and Ada Brown, of Marshalltown; Merle Rittgers, of Lincoln; and Elaine McGuire, of Harlan.

Taylor and Amanda (Nuese) VandenWynboom are the parents of twins born on Sept. 13. Tate Samuel weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces and Harper Grace weighed 4 pounds 13 ounces. Grandparents are Darrin and Tracy Nuese and Don and Diana Wells. Great-grandparents are Chuck and Darlys Finders and Darold and Sandy Nuese. Great-great-grandmother is Bernice Duncan.

Jennifer Palmarez, of Marshalltown, is the mother of a daughter, Evangelina Guadalupe Palmarez, born at 12:33 Oct. 29 at MMSC weighing 9 pounds 1 ounce and measuring 22 inches long. She joins her six older siblings.

Brad Jack Brinkmeyer, of Hubbard, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-meth charge, a driving under suspension charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a speeding charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 5. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of these cases. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Brynn Price, 508 N. 2nd St., made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for pre-trial release registration charge. Abigail Hillers, who was previously appointed, will continue to represent her in this matter. The pre-trial conference is set for 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 and the trial is set for 9 a.m. on Dec. 13. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Tedlana Jo Halverson, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. The court appointed the public defender's office to represent her in this case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 28. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only.

Justin Spencer, of Toledo, made an initial appearance on a arrest warrant for failure to appear for contempt hearing charge and a failure to comply with the sex offender registry regulations charge. On the failure to appear for the contempt hearing charge the court continued the representation of Jennifer Meyer as counsel and set at contempt hearing in District Court for 9 a.m. on Nov. 29. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only. The public defender's office as appointed to handle the failure to comply with the sex offender registry case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 26. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

Edwin Luis Correa-Villegas, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a plea hearing charge. Darrell Meyer who was previously appointed will continue with this case. The plea hearing is rescheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 30. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

Derick Gaylord Bear, 312 N. 8th Ave., made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a driving while barred-habitual offender charge and a possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana charge. Bear will hire his own attorney. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 5. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of these cases. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Alexander Long, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 5. Long was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

David Darnell Willis, 402 Plaza Heights Rd. Apt. #1, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. He will represent himself in this case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 5. Willis was released on his own recognizance.

Jessica Hartwig, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a third degree theft charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 26. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Incidents

On Thursday, an associated with the Salvation Army, 107 W. State St., reported damage to a glass door and a window pane at the building and the theft of cash. Estimated value of loss was $900.

Citations

On Thursday, Moria E. Pimentel-Ojeda, 1501 Woodbury St., was cited for theft fifth-degree from Hy-Vee.

Arrests

On Thursday, Refugio Gonzalez, 111 N. 4th Ave., was arrested for driving while barred, no insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia and on an arrest warrant for driving while barred.

Accidents

On Nov. 16, a pickup driven by Sheyla Jyl Vargas, of Chelsea, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway and came to rest on the south shoulder. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Vargas pickup was estimated at $4,500.

On Nov. 14, a vehicle driven by Paula Lynne Christian, of Baxter, was westbound on Iowa Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Christian vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

On Nov. 8, a minivan driven by Stacy Marie Partida, 913 1/2 S. 3rd Ave., was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway resulting front end damage.
