The Iowa State and Northern Iowa volleyball teams both earned at-large berths into the NCAA tournament, gaining entry for the seventh year in a row.
The Cyclones were awarded the 15th seed and will host first- and second-round matches at Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State (20-7) will face IPFW (25-6) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, following the first match between North Carolina (25-5) and California (15-15) which begins at 5 p.m.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Iowa State and IPFW, which won the Summit League title. ISU will also be the first ranked team the Mastadons have met this season.
Iowa State has won 10 straight matches heading into the NCAA tournament.
Northern Iowa (24-9) will face Kansas State (21-8) in its first-round pairing Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb. Fourth-seeded Nebraska (23-6) and Maryland-Eastern Shore (28-5) will follow.
Omaha, Neb., is the host site for Northern Iowa's region, should the Panthers advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2002. Iowa State is playing in the Berkley, Calif., region.
