BOONE - Host Boone claimed eight of 11 event victories as the Toreadors took down the Marshalltown boys' swim team, 99-71, in Tuesday's season opener.
Sam Carter and Ray Dulaney both captured an individual gold for the Bobcats, who go back to Boone on Saturday for an invitational.
Carter won the 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes, 17.42 seconds, while Dulaney captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.05.
Trailing Carter in the 500 was John Mahlstede (5:41.32) in second place. Carter also claimed second in the 200 freestyle (1:54.31), while Dulaney was runner-up in the 200 individual medley (2:18.13). Mahlstede captured second in the 100 backstroke as well, while Blair Van Staalduine earned a pair of silvers in the 50 freestyle (24.24) and the 100 free (55.17).
The 200 medley relay foursome of Mahlstede, Van Staalduine, Dulaney and Paul Landherr accounted for the Bobcats' other first-place performance, clocking in at 1:47.49.
Both Bobcat freestyle relays were runners-up. In the 200 free relay it was Dulaney, Connor Cope, Hunter Barnard and Carter (1:39.84), while the 400 free relay was comprised of Van Staalduine, Mahlstede, Landherr and Carter (3:35.93).
