TRAER - North Tama ran out to a 44-19 halftime lead and cruised from there, beating Colo-NESCO in Iowa Star Conference boys' basketball action Tuesday night, 81-41.
Everyone who played scored for the Redhawks, who improved to 2-0. Skyler Kvidera scored a career-high 16 points to lead North Tama, while Nolan Hefty had 13 points. Paul Kaufmann added 12 points and six rebounds, while Mitchell Boerm had 10 points and six boards.
Jacob Wrage contributed seven points and four steals, while Dalton Hulme had four points, six assists and four steals in the league opener.
Brandyn Niemeyer paced Colo-NESCO in its season opener, scoring 14 points in defeat. Cole Osbun added eight points while J.T. Adams and Casey Angell added six points apiece.
The Royals play their home opener Friday against league foe Waterloo Christian, while North Tama takes to the road to face Don Bosco.
Grinnell 53, South Tama 37
GRINNELL - Eli Dunne had 15 points to lead Grinnell past South Tama in non-conference action.
For South Tama, Sam Kuhter had 10 points, Jose Fonseca added seven points, and Vinny Lasley tallied six points and nine boards.
AGWSR 51, Hampton-Dumont 36
ACKLEY - Josh Bagley had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead the AGWSR boys' basketball team to a season-opening 51-36 win over Hampton-Dumont on Monday night.
Evan Janssen and Austin Heitland both chipped in 11 points and Zach Lindaman had seven rebounds for the Cougars, who open NICL West Division play Friday night at BCLUW.
