Paramedics transported 13 people with injuries to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center following the crash for various injuries they suffered when the van toppled onto its side. Some were severely injured, but none had life-threatening injuries, Tupper said.
Information on the identities of the victims, including their ages and hometowns, is pending until police have notified family members.
Tupper said the accidents cause is still under investigation, and he did not know who hit whom, whether passengers were wearing their seatbelts or the exact number of people in each car. He did say no young children were involved.
