IOWA CITY - The Iowa women's basketball team welcomes the end of a three-game road trip and a visit from Northern Iowa this afternoon in the second game of a Hawkeye doubleheader inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa (5-3) did manage to steal an upset victory over 12th-ranked West Virginia in its recent tour of the east coast, but the Hawkeye defense surrendered 73 points per game in a 1-2 jaunt away from home.
In steps Northern Iowa (3-3), which went 1-2 in its trip to Las Vegas. One of the Panthers' two all-time wins against the Hawkeyes have come in Iowa City, but Iowa has claimed all five meetings since.
Last year's affair was Iowa's first road win of the season, 78-74 in Cedar Falls. Then-junior post Morgan Johnson led the Hawkeyes with 23 points and looks to again be a dominant presence in the paint.
Today's 2:30 p.m. game will be televised by Mediacom and follows the Iowa men's game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The men's contest begins at noon and will be broadcast by the Big Ten Network.
