SPORTS SHORTS: Bobcat sophomores fall to Valley

The Marshalltown sophomore boys' basketball team fell 50-23 to West Des Moines Valley on Tuesday night at the Roundhouse.

Austin Kluver led the Bobcats with eight points, while Jordan Smith added five points and Michael Schrempf four.

The Bobcats (1-2) will face Fort Dodge on Friday at the Lenihan gym.

MHS JV girls taken out by Tigers

The Marshalltown junior varsity girls' basketball team was defeated 52-38 by West Des Moines Valley on Tuesday.

Kali Banks led the Bobcats (3-2) with 12 points to go with seven rebounds. Emily Rebik had nine points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Jordyn Simbedes chipped in eight points.

MHS plays host to Fort Dodge on Friday.

Valley hands 'Cat frosh their first loss

The Marshalltown freshman boys' basketball team sustained its first loss of the season with West Des Moines Valley's 71-48 triumph over the Bobcats on Tuesday.

Tony Smith led the Bobcats with 12 points, while Sam Rogers, Aaron Hauser and Drake Slifer had eight points apiece. Sam Weatherman chipped in five points and Trevor Dolezal led MHS with nine rebounds.

Fort Dodge visits the Bobcats (3-1) at Lenihan on Friday.
