Ruth Bessie Park, 63, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice House. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Marshalltown. Rev. Gregg Davison will officiate. Memorial services will also be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Bethlehem Lutheran Parish Hall in Buffalo Center, IA. Inurnment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran cemetery, in Lakota, IA. The Main St. Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements. Ruth was born June 21, 1949, in Buffalo Center, IA, to George and Bessie (Steele) Baumann. She grew up on a farm east of Lakota, IA, and graduated from the Lakota High School in 1967, then went to Beauty School in Mason City. After working as a beautician for two years, she decided to go to Nursing School in Rochester, Minn. Upon completing her schooling she began her nursing career at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester. Ruth was united in marriage to Norbert Park in Rochester, MN on February 24, 1979. Shortly after their marriage, Ruth and Norb moved to Chandler, AZ where she worked at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital until they returned to Iowa in June 1998. Ruth worked at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown until this past summer when she retired. Ruth was a very caring nurse. She was awarded the Golden Dome Honors State of Iowa Employee of the Year award in 2006. Ruth was a strong, caring and dedicated individual with a great sense of humor.

Ruth will be missed by her husband, Norb, and stepchildren and their families, two sisters, Barbara (Steve) Kabe, of Madison, WI, Karen (Harold) Wagenaar of Sheldon, IA, two brothers, Harold (Janice De Boer) Baumann of Blue Earth, MN, August (Cheryl) Baumann of Buffalo Center, IA, two sister- in- laws, Frieda Baumann of Mason City, IA and Helen Baumann of Lakota, IA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ernest Sr., Kenneth and Ronald, and one nephew, Dennis Baumann.
