The holiday season is filled with warm images of family, community and the spirit of giving.

Iowa Care Package, Inc.'s exclusive corporate sponsor and largest contributor, Group Benefits, Ltd. in Urbandale, is proud to announce that they have raised more than $12,000 for Iowa Care Package, Inc.; $6,200 this year alone.

Iowa Care Package, Inc., in Marshalltown, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting hospitalized and deployed United States Servicemen and women in combat zones around the world with packages containing snacks, basic comfort items and letters of support. For a second year in a row, GBL has dedicated the funds raised at their Annual Convention, held earlier this fall, to Iowa Care Package, Inc. The $6,200 raised this year will supply more than 100 packages to be shipped to soldiers in hospitals or serving overseas.

"The outpouring of support by GBL employees and their agents was just amazing," said Ron Fisher of Iowa Care Package, Inc. "It was a pleasure to team up with them again this year to send so many care packages to our deserving troops."

GBL expresses that giving to such an organization is a rewarding experience.

"Iowa Care Package is an outstanding organization and it was great to be help supply packages for soldiers who give back to us everyday, especially during the holiday season," said Chris Haviland, chair of the GBL Charity Committee.

Group Benefits, Ltd. believes in giving back to the community as much as possible. They continue their giving as they provided Thanksgiving meals to families in the Urbandale community this November and as they volunteer at Jolly Holiday Lights later this month.
