Katherine Mills, 78, of Marshalltown, died Sunday morning, Dec. 16, 2012, at Grandview Heights, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice with her loving family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Born Katherine Janet Kelderman on Oct. 26, 1934, in Knoxville, she was the daughter of Cornelius and Zella Pearl (Kingery) Kelderman. She received her education in the area of her birth.
On June 1, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Mills in Barnes City. They made their home at Lamoille, Albion and Marshalltown since 1978. Mrs. Mills was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Christian Motorcycle Association. She also graciously volunteered her time at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Katherine enjoyed motorcycles, camping, Bible studies but most of all time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kathy (Paul) Scheffert, of Union Grove Lake, Edward (Karen) Mills, of Marshalltown, and Lora (Rick) Bachman, of Union; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Leona (Clare) Carlson, of Marshalltown, Corwin Kelderman, of Marshalltown, and Delbert (Lanae) Kelderman in Texas; sister-in-law Janet Kelderman, of Marshalltown, and brother-in-law Elvin Hazen, of Liscomb.
In death, she rejoined her parents, husband, son Mike and brothers: Robert and Charles Kelderman and sister-in-law, Betty Hazen.
