A former Marshalltown Animal Medical Clinic employee charged with embezzling more than $14,000 turned herself in Friday.
Abby Kjormoe, 30, of Marshalltown, came to the Marshalltown Police Station with her attorney after a three-month investigation implicated her in the theft, said Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department.
Hanken said Dennis Drager, a veterinarian at the Animal Medical Clinic, 2412 Parker Ave., contacted police in September after he suspected Kjormoe had been stealing money from the company.

Kjormoe allegedly used her access to company computers to conceal the theft, which amounted to just under $14,110. Hanken said Kjormoe was working for the clinic until around the time police began investigating her.
Police charged Kjormoe with ongoing criminal conduct, a Class B felony, first-degree theft, a Class C felony, tampering with records, an aggravated misdemeanor, and unauthorized computer access, a serious misdemeanor.
After charging her, police released Kjormoe pending her initial appearance on Dec. 28.
A Class B felony is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
