A former Marshalltown City Council member and teacher has been charged on a violation of a no contact order.
Patrick Stansberry, 32, who now lives in Ames, was charged by Marshalltown Police on Dec. 26 for the violation with a victim being a Marshalltown woman.
Marshalltown Police Capt. Mike Hanken said Stansberry made several phone calls to the protected party and violated the no contact order.

The no contact order stems from a charge of harassment in July against Stansberry, according to online court records.
Stansberry resigned as an elementary teacher in the Marshalltown Community School District in January 2012 to take a job training preschool teachers and child care staff on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports through Mid-Iowa Community Action.
Stansberry was elected to the city council in 2010 and served one year before choosing not to run for re-election. He spent five years as an elementary teacher in Marshalltown.
Stansberry made an initial appearance on the violation charge and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 18.
