AMES - A breakout shooting night has landed Iowa State guard Kidd Blaskowsky her first weekly honor of the season.
With eight 3-pointers on the season coming into the game, Blaskowsky matched that total by going 8-for-13 from behind the 3-point line during Iowa State's first-round game in the Cyclone Challenge.
Blaskowsky scored a career-high 26 points in the easy win over Air Force. Six of her triples came in the second half. The eight treys were the most by a Cyclone since Kelsey Bolte hit eight against Iowa in 2009.
The freshman from Sugar Land, Texas, also had nine points in a win over Alabama State in the championship game of the Challenge.
Blaskowsky averaged 17.5 points and was 10-for-19 from the floor during the two tournament games. She is averaging 7.7 points on the year.
Iowa State returns to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday when the Cyclones host Texas in the Big 12 opener for both schools.
