Nicole Rodriguez has been winning hearts in her third grade class at Woodbury Elementary School, especially with her teacher, Tanda Stanton.

Stanton said the student's kindness makes her stick out.

"She's very kind and respectable and responsible," Stanton said.

Her teacher said Rodriguez is always putting others before herself.

"On one occasion a student misplaced a treat another teacher had given him and Nicole gave him hers without even thinking about it," Stanton said. "She is a great role model for the other students on selflessness."

Rodriguez said one day she would like to become a doctor.

"Because I like helping people," she said.
