Donald Reisner, 62, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at his home in Altoona. He was born April 21, 1950, in Oelwein, to Marvin and Dorothy (Burdick) Reisner.
He served in the United States Navy from 1969-1971. Donald was a realtor for 23 years and most recently worked for the University of Iowa Hygenic Lab as a courier.
Donald was President of Make a Wish Foundation in 1999 and was involved for over 10 years with the foundation. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed golf, the Iowa Hawkeyes, "Da" Bears and the Cubs.
Donald is survived by his wife, Deb; daughter, Heather Ferguson; son, Ben (Jill) Reisner; grandchildren: Libby Ferguson, Kyler Skaggs, Claire and Brynn Reisner; brother, Marvin (Jan) Reisner and twin brother, Ron (Cheri) Reisner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tom, Dennis and Lloyd Reisner.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines, with a committal service following at 2 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Make a Wish Foundation in loving memory of Donald.
