Local man charged with damaging van with bowling ball
A Marshalltown man faces a third-degree criminal mischief charge for allegedly throwing a bowling ball at his ex-girlfriend's van.
Police arrested Carl Clure, 30, Monday after he and the mother of his three children got into an argument outside the House of Compassion, said Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department.
The 32-year-old victim came into the police department to report that Clure has yanked her necklace from her neck, leaving a lasting mark, and hurled a bowling ball at the back of her van, causing roughly $600 in damage, Hanken said.
Marshalltown police arrested Clure at his home on the 400 block of East Boone Street and charged him with third-degree criminal mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor, and serious assault, a serious misdemeanor.
