More than 700 households went without power in Marshall County Friday night. Ryan Stensland, spokesperson for Alliant Energy, said the communities affected were Gilman, Laurel and Ferguson, beginning at 8:10 p.m. He said a malfunction of a breaker at a substation off of the Sutherland Generating plant was the reason for the outages.
By 8:32 p.m. Friday, power in Laurel was restored to 304 customers with hopes power would be restored to 430 customers in Gilman and Ferguson later that night, Stensland said.
