Between school and extra academic group activities, Carissa King is pretty busy.

That's just the way she likes it.

King, 11, a sixth grader at Lenihan Intermediate School, is involved in band, orchestra, Lego League, National History Day and the Continental Math League.

Carissa King is pictured working on a project at Lenihan Intermediate School last week. King, 11, is a sixth grader at the school.

"I find them fun and I get to use my brain in different ways," King said.

Her teacher, Leah Mattox, has been impressed with all of King's accomplishments.

"Obviously, she's incredibly smart and very active," Mattox said. "She's highly engaged in everything that she does and is an in-depth learner. She has learned to balance all of her activities with a smile."

Aside from all of her activities, King also enjoys learning throughout the day at Lenihan.

"There's so many new things to learn," she said.
