Elizabeth (Betty) Speas, 89, was born in Upsala, Minn., on Oct. 19, 1923, to Charles and Susan (Robertson) Johnson. She received her education in Grey Eagle, Minn. After graduation she moved to Marshalltown and was employed at the Deaconess Hospital and Dunham Bush prior to her first marriage. She married Arnold C. Baker on Sept. 11, 1945 and from this union was born Jeanne Sue, Charles Arnold and Joy Lee. Arnold died on Nov. 4, 1954. She married Ray E. Speas on Sept. 26, 1959. She was employed at Montgomery Ward and the Iowa Veterans Home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of Martha Circle. She taught the Mariners Sunday School for several years.
She is survived by her daughters: Jeanne Sue (William) Vernnard, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Joy Lee Reedy (Robert Etringer), of Port Richey, Fla.; brother Duane Anderson, of Lakeland, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: James, John, Norman and Gerald; her parents; husbands, Arnold and Ray and son, Charles Baker.
