Irma M. Roe, 94, of Clemons, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at State Center Nursing and Rehab Center, in State Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Bangor Liberty Friends Church, in Bangor. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at the Main Street Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes, in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Clemons Cemetery. Irma was born May 10, 1918, to Hugh and Flossie (Cox) Miller in Hubbard. She was educated in the Des Moines schools, graduating from East High in Des Moines. Irma was untied in marriage to Earl Roe on April 2, 1938, in Des Moines. He died Aug. 1, 1985. Along with her husband they operated the Sinclair/Chaplin gas station in Clemons. Irma was a member of the Bangor Liberty Friends Church in Bangor. She loved painting and ceramics. She also enjoyed attending jam sessions in Marshalltown and the surrounding areas.
Irma will be missed by her son, Robert (Jeanette) Roe, of Clemons; a daughter, Beverly (Otto) Young, of Ovett, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; a brother, Hugh (Florence) Miller, of Clemons; and a sister, Flossie Jane Manning, of Eldora.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; a daughter, Betty May Rojas; and two brothers, Roland Claire and Harold Leon.
