AMES - The No. 24-ranked Iowa State women's basketball team will try to avoid losing back-to-back games for the first time this season, but will have to knock off top-ranked Baylor to do it.
The Cyclones (13-3, 4-2) bring a nine-game Hilton Coliseum winning streak into tonight's 7 p.m. contest, which will be televised by Mediacom. The defending national champions from Baylor (16-1, 6-0) have won 14 in a row.
The Lady Bears are led by Preseason National Player of the Year Brittney Griner, who averages Big 12 Conference-bests of 21.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. She needs just 40 points to become the Big 12's all-time leading scorer and 13 blocks to eclipse the NCAA record.
Iowa State suffered a 29-point setback at the hands of No. 17 Oklahoma State, which came just five days after a 21-point rout of No. 16 Oklahoma.
Hallie Christofferson recorded her fourth double-double of the season as ISU's lone bright spot against the Cowgirls, and she's averaging a team-high 14.4 points per game. Chelsea Poppens (12.3) and Anna Prins (10.1) also are averaging in double figures.
Nikki Moody leads the Big 12 with 7.7 assists per game.
