New Arrivals

Aaron and Amber Shipley, of Kellogg, are the parents of twin girls born Monday, Jan. 14 at Pella Regional Health Center. Addisyn Faith weighed 5.6 pounds and measured 19.5 inches long; Aubrey Grace weighed 6.2 pounds and measured 20.5 inches long. Grandparents are Verlan and June Van Wyk, of Sully, Eugene and Carrie Meyer, of Clemons and Pat Shipley, of State Center.

Aaron and Amy Swartz, of Ponca City, Okla., are the proud parents of a daughter, Aizlyn Eve Swartz, born at 3:28 a.m. on Jan. 9 at Ponca City Medical Center weighing 6 pounds, 8 ounces and measuring 19 inches in length. Grandparents are Steven and Linda Swartz, of Marshalltown, and Jim and Ronda Martin, of Newkirk, Okla.

Wednesday

Arturo Alonso Rico, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due immediately.

Joshua Stanton, 2006 Blossom Lane, made an initial appearance on a theft-fourth degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 11.

Kimberly Brones, 307 N. 7th St. (Main Floor), made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. She pleaded not guilty. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 5. The court ordered that she make arrangements with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office to be photographed and fingerprinted.

Diego Villa, 7 S. 7th Ave., made an initial appearance on a domestic assault-strangulation charge, a false imprisonment charge and two counts of a child endangerment charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 29. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only. Should Villa post bond then he is released through the Department of Correctional Services and is to contact them immediately. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Richard Baldenegro Martinez, 602 E. Linn St., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred-habitual offender charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Anthony Lorenzo Stone, 504 Sharon Ave., made an initial appearance on a carrying weapons charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 24. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

Vikram Khodidas Patel, 2510 S. 6th St. Apt. C-10, made an initial appearance through counsel, Barry Kaplan, on two counts of a possession of a controlled substance charge. The preliminary hearing was waived.

Thursday

Ilias Lasley, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge, an assault on a peace officer charge, a criminal mischief-fourth degree charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a simple assault charge, a possession of alcohol under legal age charge, a harassment-third degree charge and a public intoxication charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 13. Lasley was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Megan Kutzner, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a probation revocation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 11. ' was ordered held without bond.

Nathan Thomas Lucas, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge and a possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 13. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of these cases. The court ordered that Lucas obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Michele Lynn Duncan, of Le Grand, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 13. Duncan was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party. The court further ordered that if Duncan possessed and firearms or ammunition that she make arrangements with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office to surrender them.

Christine Oetker Ecklor, 403 1/2 N. 2nd Ave., made an initial appearance on a theft-second degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 4. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Jose Andrade Yepez, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $25 with a $8.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $92.75, due immediately.

Tim Daniel Garrett, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due immediately.

Incidents

On Tuesday, an employee with the Union Pacific Railroad, 508 E. Nevada St. #17, reported the theft of a 2 5/16 inch drop hitch from a vehicle while parked in the hotel parking lot at 3303 S. Center St. Estimated value of loss was $250.

On Tuesday, Chris Johnson, 5304 Lily Lane, reported damage to seven windows, headlights and tail lights, four slashed tires and slashed leather seats on a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta while parked at 1308 E. Anson St. Estimated value of damage was $5,100.

On Monday, Todd Chedester, of Gilman, reported the theft of an Apple iPad from 10 E. Grant St. Apt. #1. Estimated value of loss was $400.

On Thursday, Steven Stevenson, 208 Pine St., reported hit and run damage to the left rear door on a vehicle while parked at his residence. Estimated value of damage was $900.

On Thursday, an employee with Little Caesar's, 901 S. Center St., reported damage to cash drawers and a safe at the business. Estimated value of damage was $800.

On Thursday, Jessica Starn, of Albion, reported hit and run damage to the left rear quarter panel on a car while parked in the south lot at Marshalltown High School, 1600 S. 2nd Ave. Estimated value of damage was $250.

On Wednesday, Robert Gutierrez, 114 S. 1st Ave. Apt. #1, reported the theft of a Samsung cell phone. Estimated value of loss was $100.

Arrests

On Wednesday, Desse Autumn Davenport, of Tama, was arrested for larceny.

On Tuesday, Sara Lynn Beeghly, of Le Grand, was arrested for theft-third degree from Sally's Beauty Salon and interference with official acts.

On Tuesday, Timothy Todd Weese, of Le Grand, was arrested for driving while barred and operating while intoxicated-third offense.

On Tuesday, Shawn Alan Housley, of Prairie City, was arrested on a warrant for theft-fifth degree.

On Thursday, Ryan Wade Purdy, 2328A Zeller Ave., was arrested for driving while barred.

On Thursday, Christine Oetker Ecklor, 403 1/2 N. 2nd Ave., was arrested for theft-second degree from Walmart.

Accidents

On Monday, a vehicle driven by Shannon Lee Skartvedt, of Radcliffe, was northbound in the 800 block of North Third Avenue when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Justin Lee Harrell, 1509 Marion St. Apt. B3, which had slowed to make a right turn into a business driveway. Passenger Maxine Macies, 1509 Marion St. Apt. C-1, was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries and Harrell was possibly injured, but not transported. Skartvedt was cited for failure to stop within assured clear distance. Damage to the Skartvedt vehicle was estimated at $1,200 while the Harrell car received an estimated $800 in damage.

On Monday, a car driven by Bernard Scott Budge, 10 S. 3rd St., was exiting a parking space in the Central Christian Church parking lot when it collided with a legally parked vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Budge car was estimated at $1,000 while the legally parked vehicle received an estimated $1,200 in damage.

On Jan. 18, a minivan driven by Ross Martin Heddens, 312 N. 5th St. Apt. #2, was pulling into traffic from a parked spot on the right in the 1700 block of Country Club Lane when it collided with a vehicle driven by Richard George McDonald, 307 S. 17th Ave., which was passing by on the left. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,000 each.
