The cold weather is inevitable every winter, and so it appears is the annual visit by hypnotist Jim Wand.
Wand has brought his show to the Marshalltown Community College campus every year for nearly three decades, and he will return with a 7 p.m. show Tuesday. The show will be at the student union and is free and open to the public.
One of the highlights of the show will be when Wand hypnotizes a group of 12 to 15 people.
Hypnotist Jim Wand will perform a free public show at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Student Union at Marshalltown Community College.
"I hypnotize them simultaneously, and we go through a number of skits," Wand said.
Aside from the fun of the show, Wand also wants people to learn about hypnosis. He said he lost 65 pounds in six months in college as a result of hypnosis, and it eventually led him into the field.
"I found it's been so helpful in my life," Wand said.

He said many people fear hypnosis or think they could never be hypnotized. These type of people usually have a change of heart after seeing his show.
"A lot of their perceptions of hypnosis are changed," Wand said.
Wand has been touring the country for decades and puts on 220 shows a year.
Dan Huntley, director of athletics and student life at MCC, said the show is always a hit with students and the public every year.
"He gets a lot of involvement and it's a lot of fun," Huntley said.
The show is expected to last 90 minutes.
