Fisher Elementary School third grader Marcus Barker impressed teachers with just how many books he read during a recent reading challenge.
Barker read 304 books as part of a holiday chain completed at the school last year.
"He's a student that always works really hard but he went above and beyond with the reading chain," said his teacher, Melissa Seltman.

Fisher Elementary School third grader Marcus Barker, 9, does one of his favorite activities — reading — in class recently.
Barker, 9, said he had the challenge in front of him and just went to it.
"I had a lot of books and I wanted to read them," he said.
Aside from the books challenge, Seltman said Barker is a good student and role model for others.
"He's helpful to other kids and he's an excellent example," Seltman said.
