The Marshalltown junior varsity boys' basketball team suffered a narrow loss to Ames at the Roundhouse on Monday.
Connor Johnson had 13 points and eight assists but the Little Cyclones pulled off the 54-50 win against the Bobcats.
Hunter Chamberlin added 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range, while Christian Guido had 10 points and Kreighton Miller scored nine. Austin Lovin also had five points and seven steals in the loss.
Marshalltown is now 1-3 on the season and will next play at home against Des Moines East on Monday.
