Local man charged with stealing air compressor

Police arrested a local man Saturday after he allegedly tried to steal an air compressor.

Terrance Jenkins, 29, of Marshalltown, faces a third-degree theft charge, an aggravated misdemeanor, for trying to walk out of Walmart with the $670 piece of machinery, said Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department.

Jenkins pleaded guilty to first-degree theft in 2007 in Story County, according to online court records. The judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison, but Jenkins was released for time served.

Incidents

On Sunday, Nicolle Wolken, 3157 270th St., reported the theft of a purse and a Nook eReader while at the Old Timer Bar, 401 S. Center St. Estimated value of loss was $1,300.

On Saturday, Jody Kay Shea, of Garrison, reported the theft of a 1997 Chevy Lumina and a firearm while at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center Emergency Room, 3 S. 4th Ave. Estimated value of loss was $500.

On Friday, an associate with First National Mortgage, of Washington, D.C. reported damage to a mail slot, front door, carpet, two toilets, a thermostat, wall paint, an electric organ and miscellaneous trim and floor vents at 904 Arlington Dr. Estimated value of damage was $5,440.

On Friday. Whitney Marie Jayne, of State Center, reported hit and run damage to the front passenger side bumper on a Nissan Maxima while at 308 Iowa Ave. East. Estimated value of damage was $800.

Arrests

On Sunday, Michael Robinson, Homeless, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

On Sunday, Luis Corral Sandoval, 409 S. 3rd St., was arrested for harassment-first degree.

On Sunday, Martin Arreola-Zavala, 909 S. 5th Ave., was arrested for aggravated domestic assault.

On Sunday, Ward Matthew Duffy, 209 S. 4th Ave. Apt. #1, was arrested for possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, Alprazolam, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft-second degree.

On Saturday, Ivan Carrillo-Robles, 303 S. 4th Ave. Apt. #3, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

On Saturday, Rochelle Marie Deters, 509 S. 4th St., was arrested for shoplifting.

On Saturday, Terrance Vincent Jenkins, of Ames, was arrested for theft-third degree from Walmart.

On Saturday, Zane Aaron Dolash, 717 N. 5th Ave., was arrested for public intoxication.

On Friday, Tyson Brian Bear, of Tama, was arrested for driving under suspension, interference with official acts and operating while intoxicated-second offense.

On Friday, Kristina Lee Hoag, of Tama, was arrested for public intoxication.

On Friday, Michael Robinson, Homeless, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

Monday

Michael Robinson, Homeless, made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of a no-contact order. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The contempt hearing is set for 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 18. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party. The court ordered that if Robinson possessed any firearms, he is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office upon release and make arrangements with 24 hours to surrender those items. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

Sondra Ragen Wanatee, 1501 Summit St., was arrested for serious assault. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 22. Wanatee was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Martin Arreola-Zavala, 909 S. 5th Ave., made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 14. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Luis Sandoval, 409 S. 3rd St., made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge and a harassment-first degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 14. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. The court ordered that if Sandoval possessed any firearms or ammunition he is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office upon release and make arrangements within 24 hours to surrender them. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Javier Lemus Cisneros, 806 May St., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fine $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning March 1 until the debt is completed.

Randy Ray Myers, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a serious assault charge. He will hire his own attorney. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 13. Myers was released on his own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to calls at 202 N. 2nd Ave., 210 S. 6th St., 514 Richard Lane, 902 Lincolnway, a fire call to 112 N. 9th St., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 510 N. 15th Ave., and 401 N. 14th Ave.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three fire calls to: 302 S. 2nd Ave., 17 N. 11th Ave., and 1002 S. 9th Ave., a call to 1715 S. 5th St., a rescue call to the Garwin Road and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 1110 May St., 2013 S. Center St., 206 Nicholas Dr., and 2401 S. 2nd St.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 1111 Jackson St., and a rescue call to 2300 240th St.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to nine medical assists with the EMS crew to: 506 N. 1st St., 1301 Summit St., 1206 W. Main St., 1110 E. Anson St., 2 Columbus Dr., 917 S. Center St., 1008 E. Olive St., 1010 Highland Acres Rd., and 1211 W. State St.
