BROOKLYN - Four players scored in double figures and the BGM girls' basketball team bounced GMG from the first round of Class 1A Region 5 play, winning 77-25 in Thursday's postseason opener.
Kayleen Beck scored 17 points to pace the Bears, who improved to 15-7. Jolissa Kriegel finished with 14 points, Jawny Thompson added 12 and Shianne Arp 10 for BGM, which led 20-8 after the first quarter and 43-14 at the half.
BGM advances to face Montezuma (7-16) on Tuesday as the Braves defeated Tri-County, 40-28, in their regional opener.
GMG saw its season close with a 1-20 record, sustaining a fifth straight loss. Sara Hinson scored eight points to lead the Wolverines, Olivia Barritt had six points and nine rebounds, Caitlin Appelgate and Mikaella Koster scored four points apiece, and Autumn Rosacker chipped in three.
The Wolverines graduate five seniors (Alix Hesmer, Cheyenne Wurr, Lexie Dubberke, Hinson and Rosacker) and will return five letterwinners for next season.
