No. 3 Kirkwood women run past Tigers, 87-38

MCC men win fifth straight

CEDAR RAPIDS - Four players scored in double figures and the NJCAA Division II No. 3-ranked Kirkwood Community College women's basketball team ran its winning streak to 15 games with an 87-38 triumph over Marshalltown CC on Saturday afternoon.

Whitney Rohrbach led the Eagles (23-3, 12-0) with 16 points, Kianna Jacobs and Bianca Dufelmeier both scored 14 points, and Alexis Fitzpatrick tallied 11 in the win.

East Marshall graduate Tara Gray added two points on Sophomore Day for Kirkwood.

Mady Van Metre led Marshalltown (8-14, 3-7) with 17 points and eight rebounds, five of which were offensive.

The Tigers go on the road again Monday, traveling to Trenton, Mo., to face North Central Missouri. MCC is back home Wednesday to host Iowa Central.

MCC men win fifth straight

NEW PROVIDENCE - The Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team won its fifth straight, running away from Quakerdale Promise Academy for a 106-78 victory on Saturday.

The Tigers (20-7) led 58-26 at the half and cruised to the win.

MCC hosts Iowa Central on Wednesday night and then entertains NJCAA D-I No. 5 Indian Hills in a conference clash next Saturday.
