DIKE - Carson Parker scored a season-high 21 points to help Dike-New Hartford pull away from East Marshall, 51-46, in Monday's Class 2A District 6 opener.
Byron Fritch and Sean Morgan were limited to eight points apiece, but the Wolverines (14-9) still picked up their fourth consecutive win. Morgan entered the game averaging 17.4 points per game but East Marshall's triangle-and-two defense limited him greatly.
But it did not contain Parker, who did not play when Dike-New Hartford defeated the Mustangs 56-31 on Jan. 17 in Le Grand. The Wolverines have won eight of nine since that first meeting.
Ben Terrones led East Marshall (3-19) with 17 points, while Mitch Berry had 13 points and five rebounds. Walker Steward chipped in eight points, Nate DeBondt had five points and five boards, and Josh Wilson contributed three points in the Mustangs' fifth straight loss to end the season.
Dike-New Hartford advances to face West Marshall (16-5) in Thursday's district semifinals in State Center. The Wolverines beat the Trojans 49-47 in both teams' regular-season finale in Dike a week ago.
Aplington-Parkersburg defeated South Hardin 67-44 in the other District 6 opener played Monday night in Parkersburg. The Falcons (13-8) will go to Hudson (18-3) in the other semifinal pairing.
