Clara Alexander 85, of Marshalltown, died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Villa Del Sol Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at 11 a.m., at First Assembly of God Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Clara Wilma Schultz was born on March 23, 1927, at home in McAllen, Texas, she was the daughter of William Schultz and Bessie (Louks) Schultz. They moved to Iowa when Clara was five years old and she attended school in the Ferguson school district graduating with the class of 1945 with the honor of Valedictorian. She then went on to attend North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn. On June 4, 1948, Clara was united in Marriage to Charles Hudson Alexander in Marshalltown where they resided their entire married life. Clara was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and she excelled at all three. Clara and Charles were members of the Faith Assembly of God Church for over 65 years. Clara had a love of music and loved to play the piano, accordion and sing. She was the church pianist in her younger years and the Sunday School Secretary for 30 years. She also loved to tend her flower gardens.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Charles, of Marshalltown; her children: Joyce (Gary) Blanchard, of Marshalltown; Char (Marc) Riveland, of Marshalltown; David (Denise) Alexander, of Melbourne; and Jana (Dale) Meyer, of Grundy Center; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; Clara's sister, Inez Alexander, of Elizabeth City, N.C.
In death, Clara rejoins her brothers: Elmer Schultz, Marvin (Ann) Schultz, Leonard Schultz; sisters: Grace (Frank) Seviere, Alice (Kenneth) Peterson, Irene (Merle) Weuve; brother-in-law, Joe Alexander; grandson, Gerald Dean Ellis and great-grandson, Zachary James Reynolds.
