DES MOINES - Two 20-plus point games in Missouri Valley Conference play last week was enough to earn Drake sophomore guard Kyndal Clark Player of the Week honors in the MVC. The announcement was made by the league office Monday.
Clark scored 22 points, dished out six assists, pulled down four rebounds and had four steals in a 93-84 loss to Bradley on Thursday. She played a career-high 38 minutes, made three 3-pointers and scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half.
The sophomore from Webb City, Mo., also poured in 23 points, had a career-high eight assists and grabbed six boards in a win over instate rival Northern Iowa on Saturday. She also had three steals and no turnovers in helping the Bulldogs earn the 82-67 road win over the Panthers.
Clark has scored 20 or more points eight times this season and is third in the MVC in scoring at 14.9 points per game and is leading the league in steals at 2.7 per contest.
This is the first MVC Player of the Week honor for Clark, who was named Newcomer of the Week twice as a freshman last year.
The Bulldogs (9-17, 4-11) travel to Creighton on Sunday for their final road game of the season. Drake then returns to the Knapp Center on Thursday, March 7, for a 7:05 p.m. tip off against Southern Illinois.
