Members of the Iowa Valley Community College District Education Association, representing the faculty members of Ellsworth Community College and Marshalltown Community College, presented their initial collective bargaining position to representatives of the IVCCD Board of Directors' negotiating team on March 8.
The IVCCEA proposes a 10 percent increase in faculty gross wages for 2013-2014, plus requesting that any money that becomes available is to be applied to the BA Base according to the agreed Faculty Step-Lane worksheet/multiplier. The proposal also requests an added definition for credit load hour, reducing the number of years between salary step advancements after the 15th step, and increasing the number of higher education credits and the reimbursement for those credits for faculty who are pursuing an advanced degree.
Representatives of the IVCCD Board's negotiating team will present their initial faculty contract proposal to the IVCCEA bargaining team at 4:30 p.m. on March 27 in Gentle Student Center (Caroline Board Room) on the Ellsworth Community College campus in Iowa Falls. After this second meeting, subsequent negotiating meetings will be held in closed session.
