DES MOINES - It won't take long for the news to get around in the small town of Ferguson about a couple who won the 36th of 97 top prizes of $30,000.
Glenda and Dale Thompson, who are 66 and 67 respectively, won the prize playing their favorite scratch ticket, the lottery's "Crossword" instant-scratch game.
"We play it all the time," Glenda Thompson said. "I don't know. It's just fun, finding the words. So it's fun. It's a fun ticket."

At first Dale Thompson thought they'd won $300, but Glenda double-checked the ticket and discovered it was much more than that.
"He says, 'This looks like I got $300,'" Glenda Thompson said. "And I took the ticket and I found some more words. I said, 'I think it says $30,000.'"
The couple just discovered their win on Monday and weren't really sure how they planned to spend their winnings.
"I haven't had enough time to think about that yet," Glenda Thompson said.
They claimed their prize Tuesday at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. They purchased their winning ticket at the Marshalltown Fareway, 102 W. Anson St.
Crossword is a $3 scratch game. Players win a prize by uncovering at least three complete words in the ticket's puzzle. If a player uncovers 10 words, he/she wins $30,000. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.82.
