Take advantage of the unique opportunity to get tips and techniques to enhance your job-finding skills from 3 to 7 p.m. on April 1. The event is free and open to anyone who is looking to gain an extra edge in getting noticed by prospective employers. Registration is not required, but participants are encouraged to bring a resume.
There will be several activities during the course of the workshop, including resume reviews and mock interviews. National Career Readiness Certificate testing will also be given from 5 to 8 p.m..
The workshop will also include four break-out sessions. "Don't Come As You Are" is a session on looking sharp and standing out. Marshalltown Community College will also have a clothes closet available for participants in the workshop. "Resume/Interview Refinement" is a session on setting yourself apart from the other candidates. "How to Get the Most Out of a Job Fair" is a session on developing a plan for attending events and understanding how to target employers and having the right conversations. The final session is "Temp Agencies," which will talk about this stepping-stone to long-term employment. Each of these sessions will be offered twice during the four-hour workshop.
The workshop will be held at Marshalltown Community College, 3702 S. Center St.; enter through the main entrance, door #1, at the northwest corner of the campus.
