Members of the statewide group Iowa Artists will host 12 area art shows in April.
The Area 6 Art Show will be April 6 at the First United Methodist Church, 619 Main St. in Iowa Falls. Counties included in Area 6 are Hamilton, Hardin, Jasper, Marshall, Poweshiek and Story counties. Artists will check in and hang work from 9 to 10 a.m., the juror, Janet Heinicke, will speak at 10 a.m. and the critique, with ribbon awards, begins at 1 p.m..
Heinicke has been an artist and teacher all of her life, showing her work both nationally and internationally. She has advanced degrees in printmaking and painting. She was head of the art department at Simpson College for 19 years.
Heinicke continues to be involved. She is currently the Fine Art Superintendent for the Iowa State Fair Arts Exhibition. She is also a faculty member in the Des Moines Art Center's Education Program, and is involved in such organizations as Iowa Sister States and Women Graduates-USA.
The show is open to the public at 10 a.m. for Heinicke's speech and again at 1 p.m. for the critique and awards. For general and entry information call Arliss Kelsey at 641-648-9324. The entry deadline is March 30.
