COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Rockhurst High School boys' basketball team won the program's fourth state championship on Saturday, defeating De Smet Jesuit 73-59 in the Class 5 title game inside Mizzou Arena.

Rockhurst is coached by 1975 Marshalltown High School graduate Mark Nusbaum.

The Hawklets finished the season with a 26-5 record, claiming their first state tournament title since 1989 by beating the St. Louis-based De Smet (25-7) program.

Nusbaum is a math teacher and also an assistant golf coach at Rockhurst, where he and his wife Kris and their four children have been for 11 years.

Nusbaum previously coached at Liberty, Mo., bringing home the Class 4A state basketball title in 1998 after a perfect 31-0 season.

Mark's parents, Jim and Esther Nusbaum, reside in Marshalltown.
