A swan is shown making its way across Lake Woodmere — much of it ice covered — at Marshalltown’s historic Riverside Cemetery on the first day of spring. The cemetery will be celebrating its 150th anniversary as it was originally founded as the Marshalltown Cemetery Association on April 2, 1863, according to the Continuing History of Marshall County, 1997. Rev. Louis DeLoss of the Presbyterian Church and Dr. George Glick were instrumental in its development.
